Directions & Parking

The main entrance to MIT ("Lobby 7") is located at 77 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts, 02139. The campus is easily accessible via Boston's safe and easy public subway, called the "T" - just take the Red Line to the Kendall Square stop. Please note that the T will deliver you to Main Street, not 77 Massachusetts Avenue.

MIT is also convenient to major interstate highways. For customizable driving directions from your location, you can try Mapquest or Yahoo's Maps and Driving Directions.

Directions to MIT

The best and most up-to-date directions to MIT by car, taxi, or public transportation can be found at MIT's main Getting to MIT site.

Visitor Parking

During the day, Monday through Friday, the Admissions Office provides free parking for visiting prospective students and their families, on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • From 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, you may park in the Kresge Parking Lot on Amherst Alley off of Massachusetts Avenue. You must check in with the parking attendant to get a parking pass to display on your dashboard and to get a campus map. If the attendant is not there when you arrive, leave a note on your windshield indicating that you are attending the admissions information session and campus tour.
  • If you arrive after 2:30 pm, or Kresge Parking Lot is full, you may park in the West Annex Lot on Vassar Street.
  • If visitor parking is full, see Parking for information on on-street parking and pay lots near campus.

Our downloadable Campus Map clearly marks the locations of the Kresge Parking Lot, West Annex Lot, admissions information sessions, and campus tours.

Please leave plenty of time to arrive for your visit, especially since there are several construction projects going on all around campus. For more information and a map of the construction areas, see The Evolving MIT Campus.
