" MIT TechFair THINK Competition"
Catherine Huang '10 just sent me this announcement and asked me to let you guys know about a competition that she and fellow MIT undergrads Jennifer Sim and Di Ye have organized:
Introducing a great opportunity for high school students who are interested in MIT: The MIT TechFair THINK Competition!
MIT Technology Fair - a group of undergraduates dedicated to celebrating innovative technology by bringing in companies to showcase their cutting-edge research - has put together a high school outreach program, and we are inviting YOU to be a part of it!
THINK (Technology for Humanity guided by Innovation, Networking, and Knowledge), is a national science competition intended to motivate high school students to think about problems related to human lives and how we might mitigate or combat them with science and technology.
We're offering amazing prizes - including a scholarship and an all-expenses-paid trip to MIT - to the top three winners.

We strongly encourage you to submit any past projects that you have worked on, and any ideas, through the ideas proposal format. In its first year, THINK is allowing many different formats for submission!

It looks like a pretty amazing fair, however it's only limited to US-based students.
I'm up in Canada, and I'll have an technology-based science fair project done at around the same time as THINK, but alas.. I can't participate.

Must the submission be an individual project? Can group projects (up to 4 people) apply?

Clarification on THINK Competition:
* Award includes a one-week long all expense paid trip to MIT Tech Week.
* Submission may be a fully implemented project or an idea proposal.

Don't you think (ha ha pun) that this may give some applicants an advantage over others. Some canno take a week off in Febuary to compete even though they may have a great idea.

Man, what a good program ! I wish I could have time on this THINK instead of having to finish up other college applications. I got the program printed and will post it in my school. MIT is still my first choice. An idea proposal I may have. "all expenses paid trip" to MIT, who does not want it ? !

Apologies, but international students are not available, unless they are currently residing in the
United States. As this is our first year, we cannot accommodate international airfare.

Hey Ben :)
I have a question regarding the application, of course :) I am international applicant so I took both TOEFL and SAT tests. Since my TOEFL score portrays me in much better light then SAT reasoning score, it is really important to me that you receive this score. I took test on 11/17/2007, but it doesn't show up when I track my application, there are only my SATs. Should I start worrying?
