"Laundry Lists"

Things I have been doing since my last post:

-Moving up a floor to a larger room with people I've been hanging out and doing work with since September. I miss my insanely sunny old room, but so far the move seems worth it.

-Painting my new room an awesome purple, because painting is allowed in Senior House and no one wants to live with Institute White if they don't have to.

-Starting classes. By the way, getting up at 8:30 twice a week (for 24.900 - Intro to Linguistics - which is at 9:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays) after a term of never having to get up before ten is not fun. Don't even start with your "wah wah wah I have to get up at 5 for high school!!!!!!shiftone"; remember, I was in your place about two seconds ago when I was getting up before 5 every morning to catch a bus to a high school twenty miles away from home. I have perspective. The complaints, they are still present.

-Watching Dramashop's performance of Suzan-Lori Parks' Imperceptible Mutabilities in the Third Kingdom in Kresge Auditorium's Little Theatre. It is an incredible performance, by the way.

-Doing an 18.03 problem set already, even though it is only the third day of term.

-Because it is due tomorrow afternoon.

-Yes, this is insane, but so it goes.

And now, more isoclines!

Next entry: pictures of Senior House. And by pictures, I mean photos of murals and my friends making fools of themselves for the camera.

Oh Keri, you said we shouldn't complain about waking up at five for high school well I wont since I finished last year. In Ghana secondary school is 3 years. BUT I wake up at five to go to work which I find extremely boring so I am complaining.

Solomon, where do you live in Ghana? I'm hopefully going to Africa in a year or two and Ghana is one of my prospect locations.

I wake up at 7:00 6:30 to take the bus, but at 8:30 on tuesdays :) Yay for weird school schedules!

Posted by: Reg on February 9, 2007 09:40 PM

Lets see..
6:00AM - I begin moving.
7:00AM - I drive to school.
7:30AM - First class.
9:00AM - I wake up.

That about sums it up, I'd say! :-)

Disclaimer: The above was a terrible mix of poorly attempted humor, undetectable sarcasm, and extreme exaggeration. Oh well.

Keri, could you include some photos showing details of a room in Senior House? I really like to see in-depth pictures of MIT dorms.

Sarah, I live in the eastern region, Akosombo. Where exactly would you visit in Ghana.

Posted by: Solomon on February 10, 2007 07:21 AM

My school is weird...
I normally wake up at 6:15 so I can get to school by 7 to do some early work, and school starts at 8. This, of course, is except for wednesdays when we start at 9:12 so the teachers have time to "collaborate" in the morning. Verdict: Wednesday is my favorite day of the week!

Hey Solomon, I'm also in Ghana right now, and I'm a student of GIS. Which school are you in?

Posted by: Jonathan on February 10, 2007 04:14 PM

Bah... I stay up for at least 24 hours and then sleep for about 6... And repeat.

If you'd like to get in on this exciting sleep schedule, all you have to do is visit the nearest recruiting station and enlist in your favorite branch of the military.

Cool! I want to paint my room in a lovely pink!

I'm half an hour luckier than you-I wake up at 5.30am when I have morning classes. And my mind never comes to full consciousness the whole day.

Solomon, if you read this anytime soon, my AIM sn is Sarah13007 and I would love to talk to you sometime about the culture in Africa and MIT and the universe in general. I was planning on visiting Accra.

Ha I my morning schedule less demanding:
6:47 alarm goes of
cue 2 to 5 hits of the snooze button
8:13-ish walk out door (almost fully ready)
8:40 sitting in class as bell rings
I made it on time hoorah!
