"Dan's / Dan's Evolution"

Hey all!

Just a quick post before I head off for the night...

First off, hope you like the title. I am a big fan of DDR (although I am really really bad at it). Over CPW, i would be happy to play a quick game if you catch me aroud, but I will guarantee you'll win!

But this post is to let you know that I have officially migrated all of my old posts from the old blog to here so that all of the history of my MIT blog is in one place. (I'm sure all of you were looking for some old reading material!)

That said, I will need to do an indexing post soon as there is still some good relevant information in the old posts but you would have no way to find that out unless you read through every one...

On the issue of naming, by the way please feel free to call me Daniel (or, if you must, moneyman! -- funny story, that email address and nickname was given to me by a group of pre-frosh from 2004-05). I don't really go by Mr. Barkowitz (that was my dad), and Dan is just not an abbreviation I prefer. So, until I am actually Dr., just feel free to call me Daniel.

So, feel free to read through the old content and let me know if anything is of interest. We could not port over old comments, so you're missing the other half of the conversation, but it should give you a good feel for what's been going on since the beginning!

DDR = love. And I'm loving the title :)

DDR is the best...

Hey, can I take you up on the challenge too? Maybe we could make it an official CPW event! :D

On that note, I'd also be happy to take any of you "pre-frosh upstarts" on...I know at least a few of you *coughdonaldguycough* play. That being said, I firmly expect to be schooled by you guys - it has been a long time since I've played seriously, and even then I rarely played Heavy difficulty. But I should be able to put up a better fight than Daniel. No offense. ;)

Also, that title was one of the worst puns ever. I like it. :D

Wow. The title went completely over my head.

...and then I groaned when I realized it was a pun. Nice one.

I played DDR today actually, I am on the level where I can get Cs on most heavy songs.

I expect to be using that machine when I come to MIT.

I WILL take you up on that challenge >P

Is it ok to call you Barky?

Posted by: Snively on March 25, 2008 12:42 AM

Okay... I can't even survive standard. I can play light and get A's most of the time, but anything harder? Pff. I'll take you on Daniel; it'll boost your ego to win :D.

Does anyone play FFR (DRR on the computer. Not quite the same, but it's free at least) while procrastinating?

Posted by: Anonymous on March 25, 2008 12:53 AM

I only played this once when I was visiting in the US, and did not understand a thing ! There were arrows everywhere...
So I guess you could beat me Dan ! (or better, MIT can send you to Benin to talk about MIT and install DDRs !)

Can't help but feel this post might have been directed at me! :P Thanks for your all your hard work and quick responses, Daniel.

Definitely looking forward to some DDR at CPW.

Before the DDR pads in the workout room at school broke, I could pretty consistantly pass Standard. I think that you may be able to beat me :)

I'm a pre-pre-frosh who's never DDR'd. Could I take you up on the challange on an overnight sometime in September/October?

I recommend StepMania for those of you who like DDR but have trouble keeping up. On the other hand, StepMania is much less healthy...

Huzzah for DDR and all (I have one programmer friend who's practically a demi-god on it), but Guitar Hero kicks it up and down. Much less labor-intensive for us lethargic ones...;)

I love DDR, but I suspect by the middle of CPW I will be too tired for DDR
