"Party!"

I don't have much to say, I would just like to bring this to your attention...

Caption: Former UA Vice President Jessica H. Lowell '07 wrestles current UA Vice President (and Tech Campus Life columnist) Ruth F. Miller '07 in the mud pit at Senior Haus' Steer Roast. The match ended in a narrow victory for Lowell. (Photo credit to Eric Schmiedl '09)

Yes, that's me, in case you somehow didn't figure it out. I still have mud residue in my hair, five showers later.

Steer Roast, the context for this amusing photo, is an annual party, held the first weekend in May every year by Senior Haus. It gets its name because it involves roasting a steer, which people later eat. It has other food, and bands, and two nights of partying. It also has mudwrestling.

In addition to my mudwrestling, I worked a three-hour security shift - party security is student volunteers, backed up by Campus Police. My good friend Erik '09 was the head of security.

What did YOU do this weekend?

Woot, gratz Jessie on the win! Looks like ya'll had fun.

Hmm... this weekend...attended our school's last prom (the principal banned proms indefinitely after it), attended Baccalaureate services, and umm did Honors work -_-' not really as exciting as mud wrestling.

Hmmm... first mention of another Overlaker at MIT;) Say hi to Eric for me.

You're now my hero.

I can't wait for things like this!

Dude, Jessie, what is this, Slashdot, what with the "first post" stuff? :P

When I mudwrestled two years ago I threw out my knee taking on someone from the varsity fencing team. It took a big German named Sven and Ackey to break it up.

Yeech, I almost feel like writing a program to steal all of the 'first posts'. Maybe I will sometime, haha.

Congratulations on your mudwrestling victory!

I'm not taking any APs this year, so no AP tests. I've hung out with some friends and played a great deal of strategy games (BFME2, Risk, Monopoly..) Fun!

This weekend (coincidentally) I did my SATs. It was scary & probably the most difficult important test I've ever written. It's times like this that I wonder whether there are harder things in life. But this also means I can finally get some free time (and look at this website).

Strategy games rock! Hey Adam, have you ever calculated the dice advantage for Risk? I believe it's somewhere around 52% in favor of defense, and 48% in favor of attack...

If you don't mind my asking, Daniel '12, where's the '12 come from? Are you deferring enrollment? Are you just being optimistic (or arrogant ;)) ? It's been bugging me for a while, heh.

Thanks.

I too took SATs this weekend. And after being completely mentally drained, went on a 14-mile overnight backpacking trip to start preparing for a week-long trip we are taking this summer. I think your weekend was more exciting.

@Daniel '12

Never done the risk calculations before. Just did them now.

Risk Probabilities -- Not 100% sure that they are right, but I'm pretty sure they are.. Also, they are single roll probabilities, not probabilities that the attacker will win if they continue to attack until they can't anymore. I might do those later.

Since there are different possibilities for different numbers of troops, I'm not sure how you could get an overall defender advantage.. 'Twas a fun problem, though.
