"MIT Number One in the College Rankings"

I know that the U.S. News and World Report rankings are out (see everyone else's blog), but have you seen the Washington Monthly ratings?

MIT tops the list.

According to the report:

The schools that topped our list didn't necessarily do so for the reasons you might expect. MIT earned its number one ranking not because of its ground-breaking research (although that didn't hurt), but on the basis of its commitment to national service’Äîthe school ranked #7 in that category, far better than most of its elite peers.

To whom is this attributable?

To you, our students, who continue to be involved through Student Employment in paid opportunities for community service (and by your dedication and work on your own).

Just thought I would pass on the good news.

Though that's a more respectable way to rate schools than alumni donations, I still think most school ratings are BS. Now I'll actually go read the article and see if I put my foot in my mouth. :)

Sounds fine to me, Ajymurat! My reason for using aka is the acronym "also known as" but I like the meaning of brother as well!

That's funny. akka in my language (well not exactly mine but a similar dialect) means sister. So its Moneyman Sister now...?
