"The Final Push"
This is it, MIT is in the middle of finals week and the final grind is upon us. My last final is tomorrow morning (exactly 12 hours from now) and I have not yet begun studying. That's right, not even looked at the material.
I've just woken up from a nap, ran to the store, and am now hidden away to study all night. It's a straight push through till morning, but I'm prepared!

And, as is customary, here is my music selection for this particular evening (I tend to listen to the same music every time finals roll around).

The final countdown orchestrated is really cool

Good Luck!!!
and I dig the choice of music, it's pretty folk-tastic

Just one can of Jolt as your caffeine source? Hope it lasts. :)
Good luck!

OMG, the final countdown for cello ensemble is amazing!!!!

Good luck Snively! Good to know I am not the only one who procrastinates some finals cramming. Last night was the long stretch for me, attempting to understand the mysteries of Discrete (Discreet?) Mathematics. When I signed up for that class, I thought it was ninja math. I was sorely disappointed.

^ I loled.
@snively

Posted by: bridger '13 on December 17, 2008 09:14 PM
*chuckles*
good luck snively :D!
i also voice the same concern as paul.
are you sure one can will last the night? d:.

Wow, Snively. That cello-ized/orchestral version of The Final Countdown is... wow. Awesome.
Likewise, I have a physics midterm exam tomorrow... and I have not yet begun to study either. It's probably nowhere near as hard as your last exam, though. Good luck, lol.

hahaha sounds exactly like me next year, I am 100% sure I will be in that kind of situation all the time. Good luck to you! What class is it?
Posted by: Justin '13 on December 17, 2008 09:30 PM
My pre-finals routine was a cookies 'n cream powerbar and a red gatorade. music of choice: eye of the tiger, on repeat beginning roughly one hour before the exam.
trust me...it worked.
Posted by: @snively on December 17, 2008 09:55 PM
good luck!

Ahh, procrastination. What a joyous thing. XD
My secret all-nighter formula is a vending machine bottle of Mountain Dew for during the night, a can of Red Bull for the morning, and any techno by iiO on repeat.
Good good luck to you!!

Snively, does the procrastination management get better somewhere along the way? ;_;
Posted by: Ngozi '13 on December 17, 2008 11:05 PM
@Ngozi '13
So, technically, this wasn't procrastination. I was studying for the final I had today instead.
But no, the procrastination doesn't get better.
Posted by: Snively on December 17, 2008 11:09 PM
Also, may I throw major lulz at the headbanging cellist?
Lulz thrown.
Posted by: Anonymous on December 17, 2008 11:11 PM
^Oops, that was me.
@Snively: Okay! I never assumed it was procrastination, but was curious. I am very concerned about procrastination and doing work at MIT. Ironically, I'm procrastinating right now! Haha...sigh.
Posted by: Ngozi '13 on December 17, 2008 11:14 PM
You didn't study at all?!?
That, my MIT friend, is beyond hardcore. I'm a '13er but I'm, after much debate, not applying to MIT. Cold isn't really my style. Anywho, good luck!
Posted by: vhat? on December 17, 2008 11:27 PM
Good luck Snively!
I don't have finals for another month and I'm still going to be up late. And I hate pretty much all drinks with caffeine in them. Its going to be a long night...

Wow, good luck to ya Snively! I can already see myself in the same situation, as I know procrastination will exist a year from now when I get to give this a try.
Posted by: Justin '13 on December 18, 2008 12:24 AM
What final are you studying for?
Posted by: Anonymous on December 18, 2008 12:28 AM

Final Countdown is cool and all, but here's Enter Sandman on cello.

Good Luck for 2.003!
And yeah, The Final Countdown orchestra version is cool. Very.

Hey Snively,
I listened to "Eye of the Tiger" when getting ready for finals as well...back in the '80s. Glad to hear that some traditions continue :-)
Posted by: Kim '86 on December 18, 2008 09:22 AM
Lol.. the nerdier version of Apocalyptica! Still good though :D Good luck with finals!
Posted by: Anonymous on December 18, 2008 10:47 AM
hahahahahahahahaha
those are some seriously hardcore, and very shaggy, cello dudes.
mit grads, perhaps? hahaha
did you see the guy in the middle? his bow at the end of that was completely shot...and one of the guys on the side lost his glasses with all of that head banging : )

yeah, who needs sleep when you can score over 9000
Posted by: haha on December 18, 2008 10:07 PM
Good luck. I heard 5hr energy really works, if you need to stay up and study, but I haven't tried it. It's the best feeling in the world to be done with finals.
Posted by: RZF on December 18, 2008 10:09 PM
Hmmmmmmmm. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm. Ahhhhhhh. Dang it. I really hoped that MIT would destroy the disease and drug that procrastination is. That is my biggest Vice and it needs some taming. Well, I still have high school for rehabilitation.

Ah, jolt.

What I do is take a walk when I start to feel tired. (I live in Chicago so it is cold, which, from my understanding, Boston is as well.) Needless to say this walk WAKES ME UP. Then I go home and have 3 cups of tea. I then go back to studying/ridiculous amount of homework. Repeat when I start to feel sleepy again.
