"CPW Financial Aid Presentation"

Here's a live CPW update!!!

So far we have met with over 320 families individually to discuss your financial aid awards, strategies for financing the cost of the MIT education, and your concerns. Yesterday at 3:00 pm I presented to a packed, standing room only crowd at Kresge (OK, maybe not standing room only, maybe more like 150 of you) my CPW financial aid presentation, and stayed a while after to speak with you and answer individual questions. (If you missed the talk, you can click below for a copy of the presentation in Adobe Acrobat .pdf format).

It's been a wonderful Campus Preview Weekend. This experience always impresses me with the opportunity to meet so many of you (you, your parents, your siblings, your grandparents, your extended families) and to listen to your stories. I always leave this weekend more convinced that what we do makes your dreams possible. I know in some of your conversations with us, you may not have received the answer you wanted (since no matter how much we try, a "free" MIT education just isn't possible), but I hope we served your needs with respect, dignity, and honesty. I hope we set your mind at ease that we will listen, that we view our relationship with you as a partnership, an ongoing dialogue, and a chance to work together to ensure your success, not just here at MIT but for a lifetime.

Good luck as you make the decision about accepting our offer of admission. If we can be of any further help as you navigate this road, please feel free to be in touch! We look forward to welcoming you on campus in September!

None taken (I think)... I believe he is over in La Salla de Puerto Rico, but since he didn't go to bed until after 1:00 yesterday, he may be running late!! :)

Daniel,

Thanks for what you do! I'm looking forward to meeting and talking with you between now and next year! (I'm deferring enrollment)

Dhaval, I have your application in hand to review this weekend. We should have an answer for you by Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Jason, you are fully eligible for all kinds of aid, depending upon your family contribution. Nationality or location of residence are not factors in whether or we not we give aid.

Daniel, a namesake!!! Can't wait to work with you next year.

Daniel,

could you please clarify on the following. If I applied for dereffal do I still need to send Financial Certification form for International Student, Self-help form and Student Information form? Or I simply send Admission Reply Form before May 1 and wait with all other forms till May 2008?
Thank you,

Andrey

Help !
I am a Canadian living in Kenya, and have not seen my financial aid package yet.
The time for decision is looming large on the horizon.
The mail in and out of here is notoriously unreliable.
Is there a way to see the package online, or get a copy sent to me by e-mail?

Thank you
Asante sana

Joel

I have a question that I didn't get a chance to ask at CPW - How exactly is financial aid money disbursed by MIT; for example, how do I get the money to buy food, to pay for my dorm, and to buy books?

thank you
