"Phase Doubt? Look at Interphase..."

So, I recognize that you may think that all of your applications are done, you've made your decision, you've committed to MIT, sent in your response form, and you're done. But you may not be...

We have a terrific opportunity for incoming freshmen students that you should definitely consider -- Project Interphase. Project Interphase is a program sponsored by the Office of Minority Education and is designed for students who feel they would benefit from support in their transition to MIT. Project Interphase provides a rigorous seven and a half week residential, academic enrichment, confidence and community-building program which takes place this year from June 26 to August 22. As well as the academic workload, there is a lot of fun; a chance to get to know the greater Boston area and get ahead of your soon to be fellow classmates! International and domestic students may apply.

All costs (except travel and personal expenses) are covered by MIT. The program is open to all MIT incoming freshmen. Admission is competitive, and applications need to be postmarked by May 13 (information on how to apply is available here). As an added benefit, students who receive need-based scholarship aid from MIT will have their summer contribution waived for the first year (it will be replaced by additional scholarship assistance).

Additionally, students who are selected get an opportunity to meet with staff during the summer in an informal manner and hear about the resources MIT has to offer. One of the highlights of my summer is meeting with the Project Interphase students (during a hot day in July!!!). Hopefully I'll see you there this summer!
