Laura, who was born and raised in the greatest state in the country, is proud of her heritage as a Jersey Girl. (Please don't mess with her because she's not really allowed to curse at prospective students in true Jersey-Girl-Attitude style.) Laura grew up playing softball, field hockey, and pretty much any other sport she could. As a kid she loved reading and writing, and as she progressed through school, she got pretty good at math and science too.
After attending one of MIT's younger cousins, High Technology High School, Laura decided to continue on the nerd school path and apply to MIT. It turns out that MIT liked her despite the fact that she only got a 700 on the math section of the SAT I. (Sarcasm aside, to this day she spends a lot of time posting to online college discussion boards where she tells people to quit trying to retake their 760 SAT scores and to just go outside already.)
Laura is currently a sophomore who lives in Burton-Conner. She plays for the varsity field hockey team and volunteers as an EMT on the student-run ambulance service. She still loves to read and write, and has also become passionate about physics and robots. It was at the Jersey Shore, at a very young age, that Laura met the love of her life: The New York Mets. Since moving to the Boston area, she's decided that the Sox are okay, but she will forever remain loyal to her first love.
Laura figures she'll get around to declaring a major someday. She suspects that they won't let her graduate otherwise.
